I've seen this particular meme circle quite a bit on Facebook and its how it was presented e.g. the quote and the image that provided the tiny spark of inspiration towards this piece. I actually started playing around with images when I was on my way home from work one day...
In a way I was trying to capture how structural and routined most of our situations can be especially in some of our job roles but I was also trying to see the light and the humour out of it. What if we had moments of interruption and distraction? What if those moments were the kind that brings us our little joys of the day? Is it enough for us to get through what the quote calls 'normal'?
Or perhaps I was feeling trapped in all that structure and routine and I just wanted to have my freedom and creativity back?

The quote: Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. - Ellen Goodman
I've also had another quote circling within me when I started this. I'm not sure how it ties in but I feel that its quite relevant in its contribution.
The thing about chaos, is that while it disturbs is, it too, forces our hearts to roar in a way we secretly find magnificent. - Christopher Poindexter
